The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.

The Bridport and Dorchester Circuit is part of the Southampton Methodist District (number 26/20), comprising the historic towns of Bridport and Dorchester and their rural hinterland, including the villages of the Frome and Piddle valleys as far east as Bere Regis.

Circuit Staff:-
Superintendent Minister:
    Rev. Paul Arnold

Minister:
    vacancy

URC minister authorised to serve
    Rev. Brenda Stephenson

Pastoral Visitor (part-time): Bridport area                (from 01/11/11)
    Mrs Janet Joyner

Circuit Stewards:
     Dudley Coates (Senior)
     Alison Cocks
     Christine Hatton
     Denys Hood

The Circuit came into being in September 2010 when Bridport United Church and Uploders Methodist Church (which had formerly been a part of the Sidmouth & Bridport Circuit) joined with the Churches of the former Dorchester Circuit in a wider grouping.
We have formed a ‘Mission Partnership’ with URC Churches in Weymouth and individual Churches in the Circuit have strong links with Anglican and other local Churches.

Resident or visitor, young or old, committed Christian or seeker, you will be welcome at any of the Services and other activities listed on this website.  God’s love is for all.

For information about baptism, blessing, marriage or funeral Services in any of the Circuit Churches, please contact us at info@bridportanddorchester.org.uk

If you are researching an aspect of local Methodist history, please contact us by email and we will pass your request to the Circuit Archivist.

Enquiries about baptismal/marriage registers should be directed to the County Records office as staff there are more likely to have the information which you need.
